Easy And Fun Chocolate Haystack Recipes

By William Smith

Try these easy and fun chocolate haystack recipes with the kids. They'll have an absolute blast both making and eating them!

CHOCOLATE HAYSTACK COOKIES

1 (3 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips 15 oz. can Eagle brand milk 1 1/2 c. shredded coconut 2 c. chopped walnuts 1 tsp. vanilla Melt chocolate chips in double boiler and melt over boiling water. Stir in milk and cook until thick about 15 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, stir in coconut, nuts and vanilla. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 275 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen.

Chow mein noodles make this recipe novel and even more fun for kids. A great rainy day idea for a bored and hungry bunch.

HAYSTACK COOKIES

12 oz. chow mein noodles 1 (12 oz.) chocolate chips 1 (12 oz.) butterscotch chips 1 c. peanuts

Melt together chips in double boiler. Add noodles and peanuts. Drop onto wax paper.

Chocolate Blanc-Mange

Put one quart of milk in the double-boiler, and place on the fire. Sprinkle into it one level tablespoonful of sea-moss farina. Cover, and cook until the mixture looks white, stirring frequently.

It will take about twenty minutes. While the milk and farina are cooking, shave two ounces of Premium No. 1 Chocolate, and put it into a small pan with four tablespoonfuls of sugar and two of boiling water.

Stir over a hot fire until smooth and glossy, then stir into the cooked mixture. Add a saltspoonful of salt and a teaspoonful of vanilla. Strain, and turn into a mould that has been rinsed in cold water.

Set the mould in a cold place, and do not disturb it until the blanc-mange is cold and firm. Serve with sugar and cream.

Chocolate Fragranced Candles And You

Chocolate fragranced candles and you belong together, if you like chocolate at all. You can find a variety of scents (and flavors?) from several different suppliers.

Yankee Candle offers scents to make your mouth water and one thatll have you reaching for a cold, tall glass of milk: Chocolate Chip Cookie. Its always a favorite with the chocolate-loving crowd. Perhaps youd like to relax with some peppermint cocoa...or just daydream while you sniff.

If you can crave it, you can probably find it. Imagine a rich, dark, luscious brownie under a warm sweet blanket of smooth hot fudge. Its available from FlameMakers.com Theres a candle to fuel your every chocolate fantasy. Got chocolate milk on your mind? You can light a tall one anytime you like.

If youre really over the top over chocolate, theres the Our Lady of Abundant Chocolate 'devotional' candle. Theres also chocolate candles especially for the male chocoholic. As a matter of fact, there is a chocolate candle for most of the people that might come to your mind. The mailman, your babysitter and even grouchy Uncle John will get a smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye when they receive one as a gift for any occasion or no occasion at all!

More companies are offering chocolate fragranced candles each year. Your favorite candlemaker may well have a surprise waiting for you!
